|Slashdot Launches New Mobile Website|
Tech’s most engaged community gets an easy, on-the-go way to read, share, discuss and make news
NEW YORK, NY, February 6, 2013 -- Slashdot, a Dice Holdings, Inc. service, today announced the launch of its new mobile website - http://m.slashdot.org - for tech professionals to socialize content every day and everywhere, including news, analysis, peer questions and professional insights.
Tech professionals will have access to great community features, including submissions, stories, discussions and interactive polls optimized for mobile phones and tablets. Those aspects of the mobile site will be well-known to current Slashdot users, although new features such as rich user profiles, achievement badges and enhanced friends and foes lists have been introduced specifically for the mobile site.
“Slashdot’s mobile traffic is growing rapidly and we wanted to give current and new readers a seamless way to engage with each other on their smartphones and tablets,” said Gaurav Kuchhal, Head of Product at Slashdot. “The goal is to make Slashdot a compelling multi-screen service that tech professionals love and engage with every day, just as they have with our site for more than 15 years. We’ve built the mobile user experience with the future in mind, embracing a more personal, a more social and certainly a more mobile web.”
The new mobile site is built on top of HTML5 web architecture, which serves as the cornerstone to improving the entire Slashdot site experience and the campaign of continuous improvement recently undertaken.
“Slashdot’s audience and today’s technology professionals are on-the-go,” said Alice Hill, Managing Director, Dice.com and President, Dice Labs. “The new mobile site offers our advertising partners a new platform to extend their dynamic campaigns and ensure their messages resonate, regardless of where tech professionals access Slashdot.”
Slashdot’s users can experience the new mobile site by visiting http://m.slashdot.org on their mobile phones and tablets, including logging in with existing social media accounts such as Twitter, Google+ and Facebook.
Slashdot, a Dice Holdings service, is a user-generated news, analysis, peer-driven community for technology professionals and IT decision makers. Slashdot’s highly engaged community shares and socializes hundreds of pieces of content every day, making it the premier social media destination for the tech community.
